Did you know there are 35 Million voting-age Americans with disabilities but only 55.9% of voters with disabilities voted in 2016? We feel it is time to change that. Today, I am excited to announce the launch of NCLD's OUR TIME, OUR VOTE initiative, a nonpartisan effort aimed at increasing voter participation by making voting accessible for all.

In 2016, 41% of all eligible voters with disabilities didn’t vote because something about their disability prevented them.

There are 35 million voting-age people with disabilities who could vote in the 2020 election.

1 in 5 Americans have learning disabilities and attention issues, including dyslexia, processing disorders, and ADHD.

OUR TIME, OUR VOTE wants to empower YOU to understand your rights when it comes to voting in America. At our website, you will find downloadable and printable resources that aim to help answer these common questions:

  • How do I register to vote?

  • Can I get accommodations at the polling place?

  • What should I do if I need more time to vote?

We invite you to join our movement, (it’s free!), and sign up to get updates as we will be continually updating our site with new resources to help take the mystery out of voting. I believe people with differences can make a difference. Now is our time in the LD and disability community to rise up and let our voices be heard. Join us today at OurTimeOurVote.us and let’s make America a better place, one vote at a time.
