Thank you for your question.

Your doctor would be the best person to discuss this with. It can be difficult to diagnose a young child with ADHD as many of the symptoms of ADHD, such as hyperactivity, impulsiveness or inattention, can also be characteristics of young children. Because of this, often the diagnosis happens after a child has begun school. This is not to say that doctors cannot diagnose ADHD prior to school.

Again, you would need to discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Hi there

Just wanted to say that my son is very hyperactive too and we found that sensory integration disorder was part of the problem.  I wrote an article about how using sensory integration techniques can help tame some of the hyperactivity in children over on the ADHD site.  You will have to come and check it out.

Hope this helps some!

Thank you for your question.

I think you could take him to a doctor now.  If the Doctor is good, they will put you and your son through lots of questions before they make the diagnosis.  There is also a difiant disorder that co mingles with ADHD.  My daughter is now 11 and her ADHD has been diagnosed as bipolar now.  The stimulents made her mood cycle even faster and she was acting out. That is a personal example, it may have nothing to do with your son.  However, if you don't start going to the doctor and asking for their help, you will become more frustrated.
