Hi.  Autism it's just a label to better understand certain peculiarities in a person.  Mind you, with ASDs, labels come and go..  My son is in the Spectrum, and he is perfect.   I'm pretty sure that he will go to Uni, get married, and have friends.  Some kids may not be able to, but that is regardless on whether you are in the Special Needs community or not..  Take the diagnosis as an answer to questions that you probably had in the past, but don't let it define you.

Hello there

May I ask how old you are?  What information were you given about being on the autism spectrum?

My son has autism and I also taught people who have autism for many years.  So I could possibly be of some help.

Let me know if you would like to know about some resources or even support groups.

Remember that you are still you despite this new label or diagnosis.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.  I also write here on FOQ about autism.  Keep writing and sharing.

Dont worry. There are millions of people who have autistic Spectrum disorder and dont even realise.

My son has it and once I started reading up on it I found i have it a bit and several people I know probably do too without realising it.

Special education isnt necessarily a bad thing either. I wish I had had some. I couldnt read until I was 10 and now I have been to university and am a qualified architect. (and I still cant spell)

So.......dont let it bug you. The important thing is you are getting some help and that is a good thing.

Hope this helps
