Video: Mike Bully (Stand Up for Our Future)

Print Posted by Quinn on 10 October, 2012

I never thought I would see the day when a rapper raps about bullying without using any swear words, but my co-worker found one! Here's a video about a kid who gets bullied at school, but also about how he doesn’t want to fight. The boy (Mike) has a tough situation at home because his mom is struggling financially. Both of them are being bullied, and with each other's help they are able to find the strength to perservere. Also, this song was done by Tray Chaney of 'The Wire' and it's a great song and a great message.

Bullying already makes a kid's life a living hell, but to come home to see your mom crying because she can’t afford to pay the house rent is a lot for any kid to deal with. However, what I really like about his video is that they comfort each other. Mother and child are there to support each other because everyone has hard times, even if we are adults. The mom in the video is giving the message that we all must continue to fight for our survival no matter what happens, and that we should never give up.  This spirit is what I want to celebrate on Friends of Quinn.  We are all fighters!  (But not bullies.)
