Trusting Strangers

Print Posted by Quinn on 5 April, 2012

Here is an article about a 57 year old man who tried to have sex with a 17 year old boy, taking advantage of the fact the boy had LDs. The man tricked the boy by asking him back to his home to help him move furniture. The boy agreed to help him and went with this stranger. This is outrageous! I would imagine the boy's parents told him never to trust a stranger. Still I think there should be better support systems for parents with LD kids to help them make sure their kids know never to have any associating with any strangers. Trust and social issues are hard for kids with LDs. You would think that a 17 year old boy would know about not to trust strangers, especially by that age; but maybe for kids with an LD their needs to be continued focus by both parents and school about when and when not to trust grown ups you don't know.
